Keskustori is Tampere’s most central stop and the symbolic midpoint of the whole tram network. The square spreads out between Hämeenkatu and the Tammerkoski rapids, ringed by the city’s most treasured buildings: the Old Church, the town hall and the old market hall are all close at hand. From the stop it is a short walk to every service in the centre.
The square is a meeting place for locals year-round. In summer it fills with market stalls and terraces, and at Christmas Keskustori turns into a Christmas market with lights and festive atmosphere. The roar of the Tammerkoski carries from right next door, and the rapids landscape is one of the city’s best-known sights.
Line 1 runs through Keskustori at a tight frequency, so from the stop you can travel smoothly east to Hervanta and west to Lentävänniemi. Connections to numerous bus lines make Keskustori a natural hub for getting around the whole region.
