Sorin aukio is the southern terminus of line 3 and, at the same time, one of Tampere’s busiest interchange points. The stop sits on the southern edge of the city core, a short walk from Hämeenkatu, the bus station and the Ratina district. From here the tram sets off towards Hervanta and Hervantajärvi.
The square takes its name from a local tradition linked to a jazz musician known as Sori, and it is a well-known venue for events: in summer it hosts concerts, markets and street art. The surroundings have been thoroughly renewed in recent years, with new residential and commercial buildings rising in the area.
From Sorin aukio it is a short walk to the Ratina shopping centre, the Ratina stadium and the riverside routes along Tammerkoski. The stop serves both people running errands downtown and event-goers, and it connects the tram smoothly to the region’s bus services.
