Tampere tram tickets and fares 2026
Single ticket €2.50, day ticket, travel card and season tickets — every ticket type and price in one place.
How to pay for a tram ticket in Tampere
Tampere has a single Nysse ticket system: the same ticket is valid on the tram, the bus and the local train. The tram runs entirely within zones A and B, so a journey always costs the price of an AB ticket. You can pay for your journey in four ways — with a travel card (cheapest, €2.50), with a contactless bank card straight on the reader in the vehicle (€2.80), with the Nysse Mobiili app or from a ticket machine.
There is no conductor on the tram and tickets are not sold by the driver. So buy your ticket in advance from the app or a machine, or pay with a contactless card on the reader. You tap your travel card on the reader as you board.
A single ticket is valid for 90 minutes and covers transfers — including changing between lines 1 and 3 at the central trunk stops.
Ticket types and prices
Fares are confirmed by the Tampere regional public transport board (Nysse). All prices include VAT (13.5%).
Who travels free
Not every passenger is charged. Children under 7 travel free with an adult, and a passenger travelling with a pram or stroller boards on a pram ticket.
The visually impaired and severely disabled travel free with an escort on presentation of a certificate. Children aged 7–16, as well as students, young people and seniors, get a discounted ticket on a personal travel card.

- the visually impaired and severely disabled with an escort (with a certificate)
Penalty fare without a ticket
Ticket inspectors patrol the trams regularly. A passenger travelling without a valid ticket is charged the statutory penalty fare of €80. Remember to tap your travel card on the reader — value on the card alone is not enough if the ticket has not been activated.
Where to buy a ticket
